Take Steps to Protect Your Comfort
- Set the Thermostat: Despite some cooler days prior to a heat wave, it is best to leave your thermostat set at the temperature you would set it during the heat wave. - Close the Windows: Some homeowners like to keep the windows open during the cool nights and turn off the air conditioner. The only problem here is that the air is humid no matter what the temperature outside may be. That humid air will linger inside the home, and when you turn on the air conditioner in the morning the unit will have to eliminate all of the wet air before it can actually effectively cool the home.
- Clean the Air Conditioner: Finally, go outside and give the air conditioner’s condenser a good once over.
