Extend the Life of Your Furnace Lockport, Harvey, and Darien!

Plain and simple, regular maintenance performed correctly extends the life of mechanical equipment and helps avoid needless and costly furnace repair. Every consumer understands this when it comes to getting the oil changed on their vehicles, but it is amazing how many people don’t think that it is necessary to maintain their HVAC system.

You can trace almost any problem you might experience with your HVAC system back to a lack of maintenance. To illustrate, imagine that you have just learned that the heat exchanger on your furnace has failed and as a result there is poisonous carbon monoxide gas leaking into your home. Obviously, you are left with no choice. An expensive repair or replacement must be performed immediately.

But why did the heat exchanger fail? The cause of the problem might actually be as simple as a dirty filter that was not changed as part of regular maintenance. When a filter gets dirty, air flow is significantly reduced. When air flow is reduced the heat exchanger gets much hotter because there is less air to transfer the heat which puts it under enormous stress. The metal of the heat exchanger is expanded and contracted over and over again which causes it to become fatigued, which inevitably leads to its failure.

But this is just one example of how things can go very wrong simply because regular maintenance was not performed. There is a very long list of problems just like this one than easily arise when HVAC systems are not properly maintained. The Moral of the Story: Always have your HVAC system regularly maintained by a licensed heating & air conditioning contractor.
