Saving money with furnace and water heater

How to Save Money on your Gas Bill…

by using your Furnace and Water Heater Wisely!

Did you know that 70% of your gas bill costs are due to your furnace and water heater?  If you would like to reduce your natural gas bill try keeping your furnace filter as clean as possible and change it every month and have professional tune-ups on an annual basis.  (Air purifiers in your home can also help keep your filters cleaner which also helps) This will insure that your furnace runs at its peak efficiency.  These two very small steps will help reduce your gas bill and insure that you receive reliable service from your furnace.

Your water heater should be cleaned on an annual basis.  You should also drain approximately 5 gallons from the bottom of the tank every 3 months.  This will drain the sediment that builds up at the bottom of the tank (be sure to be careful; the water will be very hot).  Take a thermometer and check the temperature of your hot water.  It should be 125°F or less.  This will prevent someone from getting burned and help you save energy.

The other day I asked my wife if she noticed all of the heating company trucks around where we live in, which by the way is Oak lawn, and she said yes I have seen them also. I asked here when was the last time we had a furnace cleaning and she said about 10 years, I SAID OK WE’RE DO. I called Four Seasons heating because I have seen their trucks and I have used them before for furnace repair at work. The service man was very good he took our entire furnace apart and cleaned it very well, I asked him how many trucks they have and he said we are around just about every town you could name. I would recommend them and will continue to use them for my furnace repair here in Oak lawn.

Look around where you live in and you will find that furnace repair guys are every where fixing and repairing furnaces, boilers and hot water tanks, these guys are busy when the weather drops. I live in Oak Lawn and when you drive around Oak Lawn you will see trucks every where. The village of Oak Lawn is a good town to live around with shopping and public transportation. So make sure you follow the instructions on this blog, these guys are very smart when it comes to heating and cooling, if we all took care of our furnaces we wouldn’t see all the furnace repair trucks around.

I have a 3 flat apartments in oak lawn that has no heat in some rooms. The radiators are cold in some rooms and the furnace turns on and off a lot. The furnace is old and I need to split the furnace into 3 seperate furnaces so that I don’t have to pay the gas bill. Do I need a permit in oak lawn to have this furnace replaced and if so do I have to go to the oak lawn building dept or does your company. I keep calling my heating system a furnace but it’s a boiler sorry.

I have used Four Seasons Heating of Oak Lawn for years for all of our furnace repair and heating and cooling repairs. The service people are very friendly and they know how to repair every brand of furnace or boiler. I have lived in Oak Lawn for over 35 years and Four Seasons Heating has been our choice in Oak lawn for all of our heating, cooling and boiler repairs. The first time I called Four Seasons Heating was on our first home we ever owned. We had just moved from Chicago to Oak Lawn and our heat was out. I tried the do it your self furnace repair but that didn’t work. Our furnace was out for 2 days so I had to call a heating and cooling company, so I called Four Seasons heating of Oak Lawn. It’s 35 years later and I still use Four Seasons Heating for all boiler, furnace and air conditioning repairs that we need.

We have also used Four Seasons Heating of Oak Lawn and have never had an issue. One day it was so cold out side that it seemed like every one who lived in Oak Lawn stayed home, our furnace was not working and our home had nothing for heat. The furnace needed repair and we were not sure if we should buy a new furnace or fix the furnace we have. I called Four Seasons Heating of Oak Lawn and the tech was out fast. He fixed and repaired are heating and cooling system and the furnace runs like new. If you live in the Oak Lawn area you should call Four Seasons for all your heating and cooling needs.

We have used the 3m window film kits to also help us save money on our furnace gas bill, it was very cheap to do and it works. Our furnace does not run as much and the gas bill on our furnace is cheaper. This has helped us save money on our furnace gas bill. I have nicor as our gas company so you know that it is not cheap to heat your home. The furnace we have is new and it runs great so we have tried to do other things to help save money on our gas bill.

In Oak Lawn if our apartment building heater or furnace that needs repair is not able to keep the house warm can we call Oak Lawn and tell them that we have no heat and our land lord won’t fix the furnace? What are the rules for heating and cooling our home? Do we call the villiage of Oak Lawn about our furnace problums or should we fix the furnace our self. The heating and cooling in this place is shot what should a new furnace cost and can we have Oak Lawn pay for it?

  8. Df says:

Every municipality has different governs regarding your tenant land lord issue. The best course of action is to call the town directly at 708-422-8292.
