Consumers Willing To Upgrade Despite Rough Economy| Naperville

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Air conditioner sales have been booming ever since the heat wave hit. The majority of homeowners that purchased a new unit did so because their old system was no longer working, but the interesting point that we noticed was the type of air conditioners that these customers were buying. The current state of the economy would lead us to believe that most homeowners are only going to purchase the bare minimum that will keep the cool and comfortable. This year, that has not been the case because homeowners have been upgrading to super high efficiency systems! The only reason we can think of to explain this trend is that these homeowners are weighing future savings against the initial out of pocket cost and finding that the savings in the future are hard to pass up!

The Top of the Line Difference

If you haven’t replaced your air conditioner in the past five to ten years, nearly any replacement will be an upgrade. However, top of the line air conditioners like the XC21 and the XC17 from Lennox will offer a substantial efficiency increase over a baseline unit like the 13ACX. Those that purchase a high end system will enjoy noticeable savings every month, and that will add up to more money in your pocket during a time when you are sure to need it most! (more…)

Flat Rates Vs Hourly Charges | Deer Park, Lake Villa, Hobart

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

When the air conditioner breaks down, the first thought that comes to the minds of most Americans is, “How much is this going to cost me?” The uncertainty stems from a total lack of knowledge about how air conditioners work and what could possibly be wrong. Many are forced to blindly call a company and request service while crossing their fingers and hoping that the bill is something that they can afford. Four Seasons recognized this problem and decided that we would do everything we could to make pricing our services as uncomplicated as possible.

Hourly Charges and Confusion

Many other HVAC companies work on an hourly basis. Some even conjure up mathematical equations that they customer has to solve in order to figure out how much they will owe. There may be one charge for the first hour then subsequent increases in the price per hour as time goes by plus the charges for parts and other services. In the end, the customer could end up paying much more than necessary simply because the charges are so confusing. (more…)

Get Ready for the Heat! | Oak Lawn, Alsip, Orland Park

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Summer has begun and the high temperatures that are typical of Chicagoland are already here! We are still given relief from the heat by a day or two of mild temperatures here and there, but they are only a minor break between heat waves. As this week progresses, the heat is expected to crawl back towards the 90’s once again, and it you are worried at all about your comfort, now is the time to get your home ready! The air conditioner is at the forefront of your protection from the sweltering heat, but there are a couple other tips to keep in mind as you prepare your home this week.

Take Steps to Protect Your Comfort

  • Set the Thermostat: Despite some cooler days prior to a heat wave, it is best to leave your thermostat set at the temperature you would set it during the heat wave. If you were to turn off the air conditioner completely or set the temperature very high, the unit would have a significantly harder time getting to the desired temperature once the heat actually arrives. Give your air conditioner a break and get the house down to the desired temperature when the weather is milder! (more…)

Negative Pressure on Your Air Conditioner| Hazel Crest, Crestwood

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

This summer, don’t you want to make sure that you are doing everything you can to help your air conditioner run efficiently? You will have it cleaned by one of the pros at Four Seasons, install a programmable thermostat to control its use, and maybe even add a little extra insulation to the attic. However, even with all of these great services performed, your home could still bog down the operation of your air conditioner. How is this possible? Well, if you home suffers with negative pressure indoors, you could be making your air conditioner do more work every time it turns on.

Does Your Home Have Negative Pressure?

The air pressure in your home should be neither positive nor negative. A well ventilated home will be at equilibrium with the outdoors. Homes these days are made air tight. Because of this fact, exhaust fans and other appliances that vent outdoors can remove air from inside the home. When the pressure outside is higher than inside, air from the outdoors will attempt to penetrate your home in any way that it can. Hot air during the summer will seep in and make it especially difficult for your air conditioner to keep up. This could be the source of the excess cost on your energy bills. (more…)
