As the days continue to get shorter, the temperatures will continue to plummet. Hopefully you haven’t waited this long to have the furnace inspected, but if you have, now is the time to get your furnace back on track! Neglecting the furnace will not only cost you more on your monthly energy bills, it will also put you at risk of inconvenient breakdowns. If you are starting up your furnace for the first time, trust your senses to tell you if something is wrong, and call Four Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning if you suspect a problem. An affordable yearly tune-up may be all your furnace needs, but ignoring the problem could cost so much more.
Use Your Senses:
- Smell: A common complaint among homeowners is a burning smell from the furnace when they first start the unit up. You may have dismissed this smell in the past, but it isn’t something you should continue to ignore. The burning smell is a clear indicator that there is a buildup of dirt, dust, and debris in the system.
- Sight: If you have a burning smell in the home, it is important that you actually go down to the furnace and check for signs of fire or smoke. If there is smoke coming from the system, you must shut it down immediately and call Four Seasons. (more…)

At the very least, the furnace must be inspected before you turn it on, and if you neglect to do so, your home could suffer a much more devastating disaster than a little water in the basement. Q- How often should I have my furnace maintenance and duct-work cleaning done?
A-Many companies will exaggerate the condition of your furnace or duct work in order to scare you into becoming a repeat customer. The problem is that few of these companies can actually provide any sort of evidence of dirt or debris in either system.
At Four Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning, we begin by evaluating the individual needs of your family. If your family has pets, health concerns like asthma or allergies or if you have recently done some remodeling in your home, you are going to need your furnace and duct work cleaned more frequently that someone who doesn’t have to compensate for these issues. Furnaces usually need to be cleaned yearly despite these factors, but the frequency of duct cleanings can vary from home to home. Our goal is to create a trusting relationship with you before we ever step foot in your home to perform any kind of service. (more…)
