Mild Winter Adds Up to Savings! | Bridgeview, Bedford Park, Posen

Friday, January 20th, 2012

As January inches closer and closer to its close, many of us are beginning to realize that this winter is not going to be as fierce as expected. We haven’t had to rely on the furnace as much as we have in recent years, and the decreased demand for heat has driven down the price of natural gas. The savings have begun to roll in and now all of this money that was to be allocated for heating and home is sitting around in need of use. Why not put that money to good use and invest it in your home? We cannot hope for these mild winters to continue in the future, but you could energy costs down even in the harshest of winters by making energy efficient improvements with Four Seasons!

Efficiency Improvements from Four Seasons

Any efficiency improvement from insulation to light bulb upgrades would make a difference, but upgrading the furnace and air conditioner will literally transform the way your home consumes energy. The combined energy use of these two systems makes up the majority of the energy use within the home. If these units are inefficient, that could add up to a lot of waste especially during the heavy use seasons. (more…)

Cure Your Curiosity and Call Four Seasons | Orland Park, Justice

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

You have seen the ads in the newspaper, on television, and on the highway. Duct cleaning seems to be a pretty popular but you have probably also heard much of the controversy that surrounds this service as well. Is it worth having done? Is it all just a scam? How much should having your ducts cleaned really cost? All of these questions could stop you from even considering this service, but then you take a peak down one of your return vents and you suddenly realize that something needs to be done. Four Seasons will show you what real duct cleaning service is suppose to look like, and all you have to do is call!

Dishonest Duct Cleaning Services

The scam artists out there like to pry on this service because the homeowner has little ability to see if the job was actually done properly. For the most part your ducts are hidden from view and without camera evidence of the cleaning being performed any scam artists can walk in, pretend to clean, and walk out with your money. Many of these companies will also throw on extra charges at the last second that you weren’t expecting, and when it comes to money, no one wants to be surprised by what they owe. These types of tactics are what shy people away from this valuable service, but Four Seasons offers the customer a much different experience. (more…)

Filter Button Confusion | Rosemont, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Every day, without fail, we have at least one customer call in asking us why their thermostat is flashing “filter.” They usually go on to explain that they checked the filter and the filter was clean but that the thermostat is still insisting that it needs to be changed. Luckily this is just a misconception about the capabilities of the thermostat, and Four Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning is here to help clear things up.

Reminding You to Check the Filter

Your thermostat is simply an on and off switch for your furnace and air conditioner. It senses the temperature in the home and turns the systems on and off in response to the temperature that you have set. Beyond that, the typical thermostat has little communication with the air conditioner and furnace. When the word “filter” shows up on your thermostat it isn’t actually detecting the dirt on your filter. It is simply a reminder to check it. The thermostat is reacting to the number of hours that the system has been running and not the actual filter itself. (more…)

Going Beyond HVAC Repairs | Orland Hills, Park City, Bloomingdale

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

What do you expect for your HVAC service technician? Most would probably say that all they are looking for is someone to fix their unit when it is broken, but what these people don’t realize is that they could be getting so much more out of each and every service call if their technician was a Four Seasons home comfort specialist. Yes of course they repair your system, but they are specialized problem solvers that have the ability to expertly assess the entire home for faults that may be contributing to your heating and cooling problems.

Home Comfort Experts

Many problems with the heating and cooling in your home may not actually be caused directly by the furnace or air conditioner. Duct work problems, air leaks, and insulation problems are also common sources of heat gain and heat loss inside the home. Many other heating and cooling companies in the area are not willing to even look into these problems. Why you ask? Well it’s usually one of two reasons. First, their technicians probably do not have the experience or the knowhow to tackle these issues. If the problem is not directly related to the HVAC they are clueless and will refer you to a different company to handle the problem. At Four Seasons, we believe that any factor that can contribute to the comfort level in your home is something that we are responsible for and we train our technicians accordingly.

Don’t Wait for Winter! | Country Club Hills, Carpentersville

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Unfortunately, winter is right around the corner, and within a matter of a couple months, we will be turning on our furnaces. However, here at Four Seasons, we think that you should have your furnace checked sooner rather than later, or you could miss out on major savings! End of summer sales are coming to an end, and by the time there is a chill in the air, they may be gone for good!

The Benefit of Time

By having a serviceman out now to inspect your furnace you can detect any major problems that may be lurking inside your unit before you need to turn it on to heat the home. This gives you the benefit of time. You can plan out replacing the system or decide on repairs with a clear mind in a comfortable home. Wait until the first frigid day of winter and you could find yourself unprepared to put forth the necessary funds for replacement or repairs. You may also make a spur of the moment decision that you will regret later just because you want the unit fixed as quickly as possible. (more…)

Simple Air Quality Improvement | Round Lake Beach, Sauk Village

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

If you are in the market for an air purification system, then you have probably noticed how complex and confusing some of these air quality improvement systems can be. Special chemicals, monthly filter changes, and water refills are among the problems that many homeowners find with the majority of air quality systems. Although these units may boast about their ability to remove particles from the air in your home, why does it have to be so complicated? Well, with Four Seasons it doesn’t. Our air quality improvement systems offer simple and effective pollutant removal, and when you think about it, isn’t that all that you are looking for?

Simplifying Air Quality

  • Air Cleaners: Air cleaners like the Healthy Climate 16 Media air cleaner from Lennox work just like your furnace’s filter, but better because they have the ability to remove far more debris than the typical furnace filter. This particular unit is incorporated right into your duct work and it will remove over 95% of particles down to 0.3 micron. It is also able to remove over 90% of bioaerosols and microbes down to .01micron. It does all this with basically no need for maintenance besides one yearly filter change that can be handled during your normal furnace cleanings. (more…)

Affordable Thermostat Repairs | Oak Park, Harvey, Winnetka

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Are you having trouble with that ancient thermostat? Are you still messing around with an old dial unit or a first generation digital unit that just won’t turn on the air conditioner no matter what you press or turn? Well, if this sounds like you, you are not alone. Every year we send our technicians into homes to deal with thermostat issues, and many times the homeowners have trouble converting to the latest and greatest in thermostat technology. However, if you are one of these homeowner that has a thermostat that is physically wired to the furnace and air conditioner, you may want to reconsider your decision to stay stuck in the past.

A Difficult and Costly Repair

Wired thermostats use a wire that travels through the walls and floors of your home to communicate with the HVAC system. The only problem with this setup is caused when the old wire goes bad. Take a moment to consider your thermostat. Odds are it is nowhere near your furnace, and replacing that wire will mean creating access holes throughout the home to feed in a new wire. This is a time consuming and potentially costly repair! So, think about it. Do you really want to put more money into that old thermostat than it is actually worth? Probably not. (more…)

Old Houses Need Energy Audits| South Holland, Hometown, Justice

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Have you noticed all of the talk about professional home energy audits? It seems like everyone from the power company to the government are telling us to go out and have our homes audited, but who really needs this service performed? Four Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning offers the citizens of Chicagoland this valuable service, but there are defiantly some people that need to have it done more than others.

The Difference between Old and New Homes

Older homes are typically in much greater need of an energy audit when compared to newer homes. Newer homes were often built for energy efficiency. The builders most likely placed adequate amounts of insulation within the walls, ceilings, and floors and the building techniques that they used created a virtually air tight home. However, if you home was built poorly or with cheap windows, doors, and HVAC appliances you could face the same problems that older homes do. (more…)
