Mild Weather Calls for Variable Capacity | South Holland, Long Grove

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Fall is the time of year to enjoy the mild weather and to enjoy the savings that comes from using the HVAC system less frequently. However, the mild temperatures during the day turn downright cold during the night, and many homeowners turn to their heating system for a little comfort while they sleep. Unless you have a new furnace, odds are your unit only has one setting and is constantly running a maximum output no matter the temperature outside. This leads to energy waste and since the weather is still pretty mild compared to how cold it could get in Chicago, it makes you wonder why your unit doesn’t give you more options. Well, if you purchase a high tech Lennox furnace from Four Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning, your new furnace will be able to regulate its output more accurately based on the weather conditions.

The Variable Capacity SLP98V from Lennox

Variable capacity furnaces like the SLP98V from Lennox vary their output from 35% to 100%. So, on a mild day that only calls for warming the home to a few degrees warmer than the outdoors, the furnace will operate at a lower setting automatically. This allows for more even warming of the home, and allows the furnace to use less energy. This is just one of the many features that come with these furnaces from Lennox, and they all work to increase your comfort and your energy savings. If this sounds like something you may be interested in getting for your home, contact your Four Seasons representative now and learn more about variable capacity furnaces.

Choosing a new furnace from the hundreds of options out there can be a bit confusing. Who has the most reliable unit? Who offers the best warranty? How long will this new unit last? These are just a few of the questions that may be floating around in your head as you look over your options. Here at Four Seasons we offer Lennox Home Comfort Systems to our customers. After years of experience with these units, we decided that for us they are the most reliable, high tech, and cost effective systems on the market. But don’t take our word for it! Here we are going to recount the experience of one of our long time customers who is a true believer in what Lennox systems have to offer.

Finally Calling it Quits

Last week, one of our servicemen went over to this customer’s home to service the furnace for the season. The customer knew the unit was getting on it the years, and wanted to know if it was time to replace it. Our technicians gave it a good look over, and though the unit was well cared for, it was showing the signs of age. The technicians couldn’t guarantee that it would be good to run for the next season, and the customer decided that after years of reliable service it was finally time to retire this unit and purchase a new one. Decibel Ratings and Your Air Conditioner | La Grange, Lynwood

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Is your air conditioner disturbing the peace in your backyard? If your air conditioner has a noisy condenser then you know what I’m talking about. Old inefficient air conditioners had little technology in the way of reducing noise generated while the system was operating. As our units get older, they tend to get louder, and at some point this system will have to be replaced. Most homeowners focus on energy efficiency and cost when they are looking for a new unit. This is a smart place to start, but when it comes down to it, there is so much more to consider! At Four Seasons, we try to give our customers a complete picture of what one of our Lennox systems is like when in operation and when it comes to a Lennox system, noise reduction is a major benefit. Consumers Willing To Upgrade Despite Rough Economy| Naperville

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Air conditioner sales have been booming ever since the heat wave hit. The majority of homeowners that purchased a new unit did so because their old system was no longer working, but the interesting point that we noticed was the type of air conditioners that these customers were buying. The current state of the economy would lead us to believe that most homeowners are only going to purchase the bare minimum that will keep the cool and comfortable. This year, that has not been the case because homeowners have been upgrading to super high efficiency systems! The only reason we can think of to explain this trend is that these homeowners are weighing future savings against the initial out of pocket cost and finding that the savings in the future are hard to pass up!

The Top of the Line Difference

If you haven’t replaced your air conditioner in the past five to ten years, nearly any replacement will be an upgrade. However, top of the line air conditioners like the XC21 and the XC17 from Lennox will offer a substantial efficiency increase over a baseline unit like the 13ACX. Those that purchase a high end system will enjoy noticeable savings every month, and that will add up to more money in your pocket during a time when you are sure to need it most! (more…)

Solar Powered Air Conditioners| Burr Ridge, Villa Park, Wood Dale

Friday, May 20th, 2011

For many, the idea of converting your home to solar power seems unattainable and out of reach. In the past, this may have been true, but with each passing day, solar power becomes more and more realistic for homes all over the United States. Here in Chicago and the surrounding suburban areas, Four Seasons can help you get started! You may be confused as to how a heating and air conditioning company can help you go solar, but when you consider that your air conditioner consumes anywhere from 12 to 17% of the energy in your home, it starts to make a bit more sense.

Start Small and Add on Later

A solar system consists of a series of panels that are placed upon the roof of your home and hooked into your home’s electrical supply. The number of panels dictates the number of appliances that you can run the system off of. Many homeowners will begin by getting just enough panels to cover the air conditioner’s operation. During the daylight hours, the air conditioner will be powered by the energy created by the panels of the roof as they absorb the sun. When the air conditioner is not in use, the panels can power other appliances in the home. When your home creates its own energy, you pay less for energy provided by the big power companies! The more panels you have, the less you will pay every month on your energy bills! (more…)

Air Cleaner Vs. Furnace Filter| Country Club Hills, River Forest

Friday, March 25th, 2011

When it comes to getting the air inside your home clean, many homeowners believe that the furnace filter is getting the job done. These people probably change their cheap fiberglass filters on a regular basis and believe that fancy air purifiers and air cleaners are for germaphobes that fear even the smallest of unseen particles. Well, Four Seasons is here to tell your that just changing the furnace filter on a regular basis is not enough to keep the air in most homes clean, and if you are one of those homeowners that uses cheap fiberglass filters as your replacement, the air in your home is probably much more contaminated than you may even realize.

The Trouble with Furnace Filters

The real problem with furnace filters is that purchasing a high quality filter every month or every 3 months can get very costly very quickly. For many homeowners it is much easier to purchase a stack of cheap thin fiberglass filters and replace them every month. The problem is that these cheap filters, though they may save you a few bucks, do very little to capture particles that float around in the air of your home. In fact the only particles they do catch are large dust particles, and if they catch anything smaller it is due to the fact that the filter is clogged with dust that makes it harder for tiny particles to get through. High SEER Ratings can Save You Tons! | Darien, Calumet City, Worth

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Winter is a challenge for many homeowners across Chicagoland. The blistering cold temperatures make using the furnace or boiler a necessity on most days, and the heating bills that result from this type of use are often so high that many homeowners feel like they are being robbed on a monthly basis. As summer approaches many people would rather endure the heat than pay for comfort, but for others, not using the air conditioner is simple not an option. Those with certain health conditions, along with the elderly, rely on an air conditioner to keep them healthy during the hottest days of summer, but that doesn’t mean that they have to pay an arm and a leg every month on their energy bills. With all of the new advances in air conditioning technology from Lennox, Four Seasons can help you find a new air conditioner that will meet your cooling needs and save you money this summer!

What is a SEER Rating?

Where furnace efficiency is rated in AFUE, air conditioner efficiency is rated in SEER or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. The number attached to the word SEER is the rating. For example, the minimal level SEER air conditioner that can be sold today is 13 SEER. In the past the minimum seer was a low as 6 and if you purchased your air conditioner more than 5 years ago, it could already be very outdated and inefficient compared to the SEER ratings that you can purchase nowadays from Lennox. Their XC21 carries a SEER rating of 21! (more…)
