Update: Air Duct Cleaning Scams| Dolton, Lemont

You may remember in early March of 2010, CBS2 News Chicago ran a investigative report on Air Duct Cleaning scams. Channel 2 Investigative Reporter, Pam Zekman, reported on how some customers were taken advantage of and overcharged by certain air duct cleaning companies.

Channel 2 asked Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning (National Air Duct Cleaners Association member)  to help explain what a professional duct cleaning should entail, how much it should cost and how long it should take to clean the air duct system. We were proud to  help because we feel illegitimate companies do a huge disservice to the industry. In a time when people want and expect value from professional service companies, offering one price then charging hidden fees is shameful.

The investigative report from the  June 8, 2010 – 10 pm newscast was an update of the March report stating that the Cook County States Attorney was seeking to shut down an air duct cleaning company. Please remember that when you are in search of a reputable, qualified company you should seek references, check a company’s status with the Better Business Bureau and look for companies who take the time to properly train, certify their staff and have memberships with industry groups such as NADCA.

Have no Air was told lightning hit unit paid 1,000 deposit 6/18/10, ins. paid 1800.00 6/21/10 still no Air with many untruths. The contractor I used was highly recommended but it appears that with the economy situation and all I have been scammed as well as my ins. co. Lost my job in April 11, 2010 I cannot afford this and the heat this year has been horrendous. I noticed your company is in Chicago/Indiana area however I am in Dahlonega, GA. My exisiting unit was a Rudd and is only 5 yrs old but has been a problem from day one and was not installed properly. It appears that in this area (Georgia) the complaints about heating and air is a constant issue. Not sure where to take my problem other than to court.
Consumers need to be aware of this.
