A Duel-Fuel system offers the perfect combination of efficiency and comfort with two energy sources, an electric heat pump and a gas furnace.

This system is ideal because it alternates between the two energy sources, depending on conditions outside. It’s a heating and cooling system all in one, the heat pump works as both a heating and cooling system, so it consumes less natural gas. On really cold days the gas furnace is the primary heat source, which ensures maximum comfort is maintained.

I have a Duel-Fuel system in my house and it works really well. It has reduced my energy cost by 30% or more, depending on the cost per therm for natural gas. One thing you have to get use to is when the heat pump is on – the air coming out of the vents isn’t going to feel hot like when your gas furnace is running. Plus, your unit that sits outside will be running in the winter, usually down to about 35 degrees is when most HVAC contractors will have it shut down and switch to the furnace.

If you plan on staying in your home for at least another 5 or more years it would be a good investment, and if you do plan on selling your home you can advertise high efficiency Duel-Fuel system ( heating and air ) which will help your home stand out from the rest.
